My 2020 Reading Challenge

I have always been an avid reader, but mostly by just picking up books recommended by my favorite people, or about subjects and scenarios that interest me. While that is working quite well for me, this year in the beginning of this new decade, I decided to attempt a full-fledged reading challenge. Mainly because my to-be-read shelf is bursting at the seams and I always end up whimsically buying or reading newer books while ignoring all the rest on my shelves. This year, this book challenge, is my personal attempt to follow some fun reading prompts and by way of that get a start on my unread books.

There are hundreds of reading challenges out there, but one that particularly caught my attention was the 2020 Wizarding World Tour Reading Challenge. Everyone who knows me knows I love Harry Potter to a fault, and what better way to do my first ever reading challenge than this!

It is no news that there are 8 wizarding schools across the globe, and obviously everyone wants to visit all of them. This challenge is a compilation of prompts. 7 prompts per school. When you finish all 7 books from one school, you can safely say you have visited it, of course!

In the first few days of this year, I raided my TBR pile, and categorized all my books into as many prompts as possible, without pushing the definitions or trying to force a book into one of them. For the ones that I did not already own books, I raided my Goodreads TBR list and picked from those. And came up with this ginormous and very ambitious list for this year:

My 2020 Reading Challenge Books: In each section, the panel on the left is the prompts from the challenge, and the panel on the right are the books I hope to read for the respective prompts.

While I certainly hope I will be able to finish it, knowing myself and my work schedule, I can positively say I will try my best. As a reader, I know to never push the limits of my reading – once I try to cram I am not reading for pleasure anymore. It is always quantity over quality!

Happy Reading!
